Lawn Mower Guide – How to Prepare your Lawn Mower for the Season

By Bjorgvin Arnason When the spring comes and we get the lawn mower out again, we have to check few things before we start the mower. Use fresh gas. If you forgot to drain the gas tank last fall then you should replace the gas. Gasoline that is older than a month has lost some of its energy and can lead to problems with the carburetor and engine. Change the engine oil. Find the drain plug and drain the oil to a container, replace it with clean SAE-30 engine oil. Check the owners manual for oil recommendations. The oil should be changed at least once a year. Replace the spark plug. You can take the old spark plug to your local gas station or service shop or find the type and gap information in the owners manual. A new spark plug is inexpensive and can save you a lot of trouble later. Check the air filter. Tap the filter on a flat surface or carefully clean it with pressurized air. If the filter is very dirty, it should be replaced. Only foam filters should be cleaned with water. Have a look at the blade. Is it dull? Is it broken or bent? If so then replace the blade. A dull blade can be sharpened with a file or grinder but never try to do it on the mower. Some blades are dual-edge and can be turned over but most blades have to be replaced or sharpened. Check the drive belt. If your lawn mower has a drive belt then check it for wear and lack of tension. You should be able to move the belt sideways about half an inch with one finger if the tension is correct. Clean the mower deck. Disconnect the spark wire from the spark plug to prevent engine from starting. Use water and a soft brush to carefully clean the outside of the mower deck around the engine. Turn the mower 90 deg on its side, with the carburetor facing up and clean the inside of the deck, using a wooden stick to remove heavy grass build-up. How To Pick The Perfect Destination For Your Wedding

By Nathan T. Lynch A destination wedding is a wedding that takes place in a location that is not home to either the bride or the groom or their families. Couples may choose a location that they have always wanted to visit for the location of their destination wedding. The couple may also opt to have their wedding in the location of their honeymoon so that there honeymoon will start immediately after the wedding. There are certain advantages and disadvantages to having a destination wedding. One of the most defining advantages is the ability to have a wedding in a beautiful and exotic location. Another advantage to a destination wedding is that if you choose to honeymoon in the same location you will first of all already be at your honeymoon location at the conclusion of the wedding and furthermore you will likely receive a discount on your honeymoon stay because you have already had your wedding at the location. One of the distinct disadvantages of a destination wedding is that the planning process can be difficult and that you are often unable to fully enjoy the planning process. Another disadvantage to destination weddings is that they are typically not well attended due to the fact that travel is expensive. A destination wedding can be used as the opportunity to enjoy a long weekend with close friends in a convenient location. The following are a few tips for turning your destination wedding into a fun-filed extended weekend for your guests. Choosing a scenic location such as Colorado for your destination wedding can offer your guests a variety of fun activities to participate in either before or after your wedding. The couple could choose to have their wedding on a ranch or at a ski resort and there are a wide variety of activities available for the couple to participate in. Some of these activities include skiing, mountain biking, rock climbing and hiking. Las Vegas is another popular destination wedding location. The lure of a Las Vegas wedding is that there is so much to see and do in this city. Guests can choose to spend their free time gambling, taking in shows or visiting the many famous restaurants in the area. Guests can also choose to visit some of the extravagant and world famous hotels in the area. Another popular destination wedding location is Mexico. This is a popular location for a couple of reasons. Many couples choose to honeymoon in Mexico so that reason alone makes it an ideal destination wedding location. Also, the warm weather and beautiful white sand beaches provide a beautiful setting for a wedding. Guests who arrive early or choose to spend a few extra days in Mexico will not be disappointed with the available activities. Scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing, sunbathing and travel to ancient ruins are just a few of the activities that the guests can enjoy while in Mexico. New York City is still another popular destination wedding location. Guests who travel to a destination wedding in New York City have a variety of activities to choose from while they are vacationing. Museums, plays, operas and sporting events are just a few of the available activities that guests may choose to partake in. Besides these activities, New York City also has some of the best people watching available in the world. The city is literally teeming with interesting characters that delight visitors with their idiosyncrasies. Additionally there are many nightclubs and restaurants that are definitely worth trying. Choosing the perfect location for your wedding may seem like an impossible task especially if you live in an area that has a number of options. Setting strict criteria for evaluating locations can save you a lot of time and effort. Only visiting venues that meet these criteria will greatly reduce the number of locations that you need to visit. Lose Weight While You Sleep

By Heather Moreno Believe it or not, sleep has a great deal to do with how and what you eat and maintaining your weight. Your body runs according to your biological clock. This clock is difficult if not impossible to change. So, you must create your lifestyle around this internal clock. Most of us structure our sleep around our work, family and home life with less thought to what our bodies need were dealing with life. But there is good incentive to make a change. A lack of sleep can affect your weight in two ways: 1. People who lack sleep are more likely to overeat. Your ability to be in tune to hunger is diminished and research shows that sleep-deprived people tend to eat 15% more food than those who get the sleep they need. Many go for high-sugar comfort foods, like cookies and candy, for a quick energy boost. In a sleep-deprived state, the body will store more calories as fat thinking a crisis is near. Ugh! 2. When you get enough sleep you replenish your energy stores and your hormones stay in check. When you are sleep deprived the hormone cortisol rises in your body, indicating stress. When cortisol remains high it stimulates your appetite for high sugar foods and it also causes the body to store more fat in the abdominal area. Lack of sleep can lead to weight gain! Consider the following: * What time do you get up? Go to bed? * How many hours of sleep do you average? * How many hours of sleep do you need? * Based on the hours of sleep you need, what time is ideal for you to go to bed? To get up? You might notice some changes need to be made. While you may not be able to reach your ideal habits right now, making small changes in sleeping habits can help, especially during the crazy schedules the holidays bring. Diabetes – What Are The Dangers Of Diabetes And How Does Diabetes Affect Weight Loss?

By Ian Mason What is diabetes and how does it affect my weight loss? In this case, well only discuss the most common form of diabetes, type II , which can be largely attributed to a poor diet and inactivity. What happens is that a diabetics body is either unable to produce enough insulin in the pancreas or the cells refuse to respond to the insulin that is produced. Insulins role is to help distribute glucose to either the brain, muscles, liver, or if there is too much glucose in the blood, fat stores. And since insulin is being underproduced or is being ignored, your body finds itself with too much glucose in the blood. While it is disputed as to why type II diabetes develops, one of the most obvious explanations would have to be the likelihood that, just like any piece of equipment, when overworked, it will eventually fail. In this case, the equipment happens to be the pancreas. Sadly, this is not all that is affected by diabetes. Other problems that can arise are heart disease, stroke, and kidney failure. In fact, two out of three people with diabetes die due to stroke and heart disease. These resulting complications could largely be controlled if the bloodstream is gradually fed with glucose from components of a healthier diet and the body is exercised regularly. Now, how does type II diabetes relate to obesity? Obesity is one of the largest environmental triggers for type II diabetes. To put it simply, being obese roughly means weighing 20% more than your desirable body weight. However, since some people are genetically predisposed to obesity, diabetes may be unavoidable to a certain degree. On the flip side though, it has been proven that excessive amounts of body fat promotes insulin resistance and thus the development of type II diabetes. To be even more specific, those with body fat that tends to gather around the waist as opposed to the hips and thighs happen to be more likely to develop type II diabetes. Be aware of this central body fat. A good way to tell if you are at risk is to measure around your hips and around your waist with a tape measure. Now, divide your waist measurement by your hip measurement. This is your waist to hip ratio. If you are a male, 1.0 scores as a high reading and if you are female, 0.95 is a high reading. Keep it below these if you want to reduce your risk for diabetes and eventual heart failure. Another factor that has a noticeable effect on ones likelihood of developing type II diabetes is age. The older you are, the more likely you are to develop diabetes, but this also looks to be the work of our nutritionally lacking diets since our elderly are heavier than ever these days. Therefore, it is vital that not only should one begin eating better by limiting carbohydrate consumption, especially of the refined, processed kind, but should also direct their focus on regular exercise. These are the two factors that can be manipulated to your benefit since our genetic makeup is out of our reach, but youll be amazed at the difference a solid diet and a good exercise regimen can make. Building Customer Relationships With Booklets

By Rick Parrott Marketing with booklets is an excellent way to reach new customers and maintain contact with existing customers. Booklets are such powerful marketing vehicles because they allow you to educate your customers and maintain long term contact. Newspaper advertisements, for example, allow only a small part of your story to be told. You can only put so much information in that tiny newspaper advertisement. Newspapers are usually kept for recycling, not reading. Here are four advantages of marketing with booklets: Booklet Marketing Advantage #1 Longevity How long do you think your customers will keep last Sundays newspaper advertisement? One day? Two days at the most? Then its off to the recycling bin. Do you think theyll keep your information filled tips booklet longer? They will if it contains information they find useful. How many times have you kept a marketing product because it contained helpful information? Why do you think people put calendars on the back of business cards? Booklet Marketing Advantage #2 Credibility Booklets that provide high quality information will increase your credibility. Americans love experts, publishing articles and booklets will help your customers see you as the expert. Your customers know you are an expert because the information in your booklet helped solve their problems. They have proof you know what you are talking about, and that will cross over to other areas of your business. Booklet Marketing Advantage #3 Education Do your product sales depend on your customer having a specific level of knowledge? If so, marketing with booklets gives you the opportunity to provide your customer with enough information to make an informed decision. Can you say the same about newspaper advertising? Booklet Marketing Advantage #4 Costs How much does each of your current customers contribute to your bottom line? Are they worth keeping? Since keeping a current customer is much cheaper than acquiring new customers, you bet they are! Booklets allow you to maintain contact with your current customer base by providing them with tangible proof that your business values their patronage. Conventional marketing wisdom is that a customer needs to see an advertisement up to seven times before they respond. If your booklet provides good usable information, your customers will read it and act on it without needing to see it multiple times. Marketing that helps maintain your relationship with your current customer base or build rapport with new customers is inexpensive and effective marketing. Conclusion In my experience people buy from those they trust, and most Americans trust experts. By positioning yourself or your business as the expert you can benefit from this trust. Marketing with booklets is a great way to establish your expertise with your customer base. *** Parrott Writing Services, a San Antonio Texas company specializing in web content, ghostwriting, website optimization, online/offline ad copy and technical writing for small businesses. http://www.rickparrott.com mailto:rickparrott@sasecure.net Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Rick_Parrott http://EzineArticles.com/?Building-Customer-Relationships-With-Booklets&id=159666 debt consolidation loan no credit check natwest ban loan short term how to take a personal bank loan credit card no credit check

Outdoor Shade Canopies

By Marcus Peterson The first thing we might think of when we hear the word canopy is the leaves of tall trees which make a heavy cover overhead, not allowing the sun to touch the heavy undergrowth in dense forests. In modern times, canopy has a different meaning. Canopies, or outdoor canopies, are temporary coverings used in open outside space. In the same way, an outdoor shade canopy is meant for shading you, and your friends and family, from the sun when you plan to spend time outdoors. However, there are a number of varieties of canopies, and one has the opportunity to choose from hundreds of canopies that are easily available at the retail shops and online. These outdoor shade canopies become a need when the sun is particularly intense. Most of them are easy to carry and lightweight as they are required to be carried to different places for different events. Sometimes these canopies need to be assembled the whole process is meant for saving space during the storage of the canopy. Retractable canopies help one to avoid the fuss regarding assembling. Four important advantages are: they supports up to 60 to 90 pounds of weight, they are rain tight and water proof, they have screen windows at the sides and at the ends, and are available with shock cord poles that helps in setting up the whole thing. The most popular shade canopy of today is the portable outdoor shade canopy. A portable canopy is the one which can be carried from one place to another without much effort. Usually these canopies are foldable. Usually the portable canopies are tents without sides, just a top supported by poles. Outdoor Canopy provides detailed information on Outdoor Canopies, Outdoor Canopy Swings, Outdoor Shade Canopies, Outdoor Canopy Tents and more. A Unique Treasure for Any Cook: Modena Balsamic Vinegar

By James Zeller “The preparation of good food is merely another expression of art, one of the joys of civilized living” — Dione Lucas Twelve balsam pine trees bobbed and weaved as the return voyage to Europe commenced. Christopher Columbus had been impressed with the little trees and saw this as one of many souvenirs from his second voyage to the new world. The trees took root easily in his native Europe. Little did anyone realize the transplant of those twelve trees would result in one of the most exciting tastes in cooking today. This is but one theory as to the origins of Balsamic vinegar. Additional research indicates that an earlier form of this vinegar may have roots in the 11th century and was more than likely used for medicinal purposes in its original form. It is further argued the balsam in balsamic refers to balm (soothing properties) and not the balsam pine tree. Production of Balsamic Vinegar In the region of Modena, Italy, the dark vinegar ages in a series of wooden casks. To ensure the highest quality you must refer to the product label. Italy has protected the phrase aceto balsamico tradizionale. There are several less expensive products that bear the label balsamic vinegar or balsamic vinaigrette. While some are of average or above average quality there are also some that are comprised of little more than cooked caramel and common vinegar. Natures Best Ingredients Balsamic vinegar begins with the quality of white sweet grapes. The grapes are boiled into a syrup state while water content is reduced by as much as 50%. The syrup is then placed in balsam or other approved wooden casks. As the syrup ages, vinegar is added to acetify the existing product. Once a year the balsamic vinegar is transferred to a new cask. There are a variety of woods used in production of balsamic vinegar, but there are only a select few woods approved for this use. Most companies that provide authentic Balsamic vinegar will also provide a less expensive variety that maintains high quality, but with less aging and depth of flavor. Cooking with Italian Balsamico While oil and vinegar do not mix, they are companions that bring uncommon taste to gourmet cooking. Balsamic vinegar has the ability to bring out substantial taste in almost any meal. The best rule of thumb for Italian balsamico is less is more. Many will use balsamic vinegar utilizing a nebulizer to spritz food or they will portion the precious liquid by the drop. There is little wonder why this is the case when you consider that the demand for aged balsamic vinegar is extremely high. Modestly priced bottles begin at $20; however some bottles that have aged more than 25 years can cost more than a thousand dollars. A few bottles that were made in the 1700s have been made available for over $120,000 dollars each. The Art of Balsamic Vinegar Balsamic Vinegar can be both sweet and sour to the taste, yet it is this exact combination that continues to impress and amaze the artist pallet of taste conscious consumers. Balsamic vinaigrette can make an ordinary salad into something radically special. While balsamic vinegar has been around since the Middle Ages it has only found a worldwide following in the last thirty years. The labor intensive process of making balsamic vinegar makes a bottle of this exceptional vinegar a unique treasure for any cook and a unique taste treat for any guest. James Zeller writes for gourmet gift related websites and blogs such as Cruets.com Here is a selection of gourmet oil and vinegar that he found, and a creative collection of kitchen gifts. Shifting from Two Incomes to One: Embracing The Virtues of the Single-Income Family

By Christine Conners If you are considering shifting from two incomes to one, you probably already prepared yourself for the financial changes. But thriving on a single income requires more than just clipping coupons and eating more meals at home. To succeed we must alter our philosophical mindset and embrace the six virtues of the single-income family: Virtue 1: Sacrifice Shifting to one income requires sacrifice. It is this same sacrifice that causes stay-at-home parents to recoil when they are told that they are fortunate’, blessed’, or lucky’ to be home. While they may be blessed indeed, most families make major sacrifices in order to enjoy that blessing. Virtue 2: Humility – I was in line at Goodwill once when the phone belonging to the lady in front of me began to ring. She picked it up and said, “Oh Hi! Well, I’ll be there in about 15 minutes. I’m at the mall.” I thought about yelling, “Don’t believe her! She’s in line with us losers at Goodwill!” I find no shame in shopping at Goodwill. In fact, had I taken the call, it probably would have sounded like this: “Girlfriend, guess where I am? I’m at Goodwill, and you would not believe the deals today!” Virtue 3: Simplicity – A life of simplicity is in many ways a spiritual quest, one that requires that we separate ourselves from a world obsessed with having the newest, biggest, and best. The goal of simplicity is to find peace in a walk that is often far different from the others walking around you. While your working friends and neighbors may be buying bigger homes, dressing their children in brand-named clothes, and enjoying fabulous vacations, you on the other hand may be downsizing your home, dressing your children in hand-me-downs, and selling family heirlooms to pay the phone bill. To find peace in this means that we are not envious, angry, or bitter about the absence of things that we’ve chosen to live without. Virtue 4: Humor – I have to admit that it took us a while before we saw the humor in a used beat up minivan we purchased a few years back. Within a short period of time, everything that could possibly break on that death trap did. From the air conditioner to the transmission, from the power windows to the suspension, one-by-one, front to back, things just fell apart. Our ongoing problems with the van went from distressing to absurd when the passenger door spontaneously rusted itself from the hinge followed by total failure of all the dashboard instruments. We improvised to get by. The passenger door was held shut by duct tape and a rope tied to the inside handle. Vehicle speed was estimated by the sound of the wind blowing past our window. Finally, the transmission failed, putting an end to the yearlong battle. We certainly haven’t always appreciated the humor at the time, but our low-income adventures eventually provide chuckles down the road. Virtue 5: Gratitude – When we are always in a state of want, we fail to appreciate what it is we already have. Instead of comparing yourself to those who have more, try to compare yourself to those who have less, and be grateful for the blessings that you do have. Virtue 6: Reject Materialism – One of the more difficult challenges to our resolve comes from envy. As we watch our neighbors and friends enjoying the finer things in life, it is easy to assume that they must be happier than us. But the research on the subject conflicts with this premise. Dr. Ed Diener has studied subjective well-being (SWB) and wealth. He concludes: “It appears that a higher income might help if we are very poor. Gaining more income if we are middle-class or upper-class and are living in a wealthy nation is unlikely to substantially bolster our SWB on a long-term basis.” (Will Money Increase Subjective Well-Being?, Diener and Biswas-Diener, 2001) Now what if your basic needs are being met, yet you find yourself experiencing a great deal of monetary discontent? Materialism may be your problem as Dr. Tim Kasser’s research explains: “When people believe materialistic values are important, they report less happiness and more distress, have poorer interpersonal relationships, contribute less to the community, and engage in more ecologically damaging behaviors.” (www.knox.edu/tkasser.xml, 2005) Shifting from two incomes to one not only requires we make dramatic financial changes, but that we adopt a philosophical mindset that embraces sacrifice, humility, simplicity, humor, and a rejection of the worlds emphasis on material things. Which Husband Did You Marry?

By Michael Douglas Most of us were brought up to believe there was a single entity called a Good Husband. Yet there are actually two very different kinds of good husbands: the Boyfriend and the Husband. The former is everything you’ve wanted since you were 15: sexy, spontaneous, irresistible. He makes you laugh, makes you shiver, makes you mad as hell. The thing is, he never quite pictured himself as a husband and father, and deep down he still doesn’t. When you’re trying to explain the concept of equal parenting or picking up his wet towels from the floor, you wonder: Did I make the biggest mistake of my life? The Husband is your best buddy, a man you can count on to walk the baby at 3 am, research Consumer Reports for the safest car and even buy you tampons on the way home. Yes, sex is more tender than thrilling, but isn’t that to be expected with time? Still, sometimes you wonder if marriage should have more pizzazz, mystery… Well, yes. And Boyfriend husbands should stay home more often, too. But just as there is no one good marriage, there is no one good husband: Even the best have a B side. But how do you live with your doubts and still love and nourish the good marriage you’ve got? Read on… He’s such a bad boy! From the outside looking in, we all envy the Boyfriend Marriage – and from the inside out, it does feel as good as it looks. Romantic. Spontaneous. Magical. Right. At its best, it feels the way you were always told marriage should feel. You will have a rollickingly connected kind of marriage, like a radio that never gets turned off. And that’s wonderful when the magic is working. But, if the highs are higher in this marriage, the lows are also lower. Passion – the glue of the Boyfriend Marriage – has a downside, and it resides in its very origin: The flame that fuels it is either unfamiliarity or uncertainty. And much as we love our husbands, they do not remain an endless series of brand new revelations. Which leaves us uncertainty, for the dynamics haven’t changed much since your dating days. The same questions still rivet you, just beneath the surface of your everyday lives: How does he feel? How do you feel? Is he still attracted to you? Do you still love him? But most of the time, you just love the way your heart jumps when you first catch sight of him, the way you feel walking into a room together, the rightness. Then something happens, and the balance tips – and you’re back to does-he-or-doesn’t-he? He’s comfy and cool There’s no question: Being married to a Husband is easier on the psyche than being married to a Boyfriend. Here, the sexual connection evolves out of a steadily growing regard, an intellectual rapport, a shared sense of humour and a profound romantic attachment. One doesn’t so much fall in love as walk into it. The downside of the Husband Marriage? The yearning to be swept away by a tidal wave of lust. And it can feel a lot worse when you’re going through a period of doubts … or when an actual person comes along who reminds you of the passion you once knew. How to love the one you’re with No matter what the style, good marriages are based on chemistry, commitment and communication. And optimism: It helps to look at your marriage as half full rather than half empty. Loving your husband and yourself at the same time depends upon seeing him as clearly as possible, trying to forgive him for what you see that you wish you didn’t, and trying to live with him in spite of it. Given how different the Husband Marriage is from the Boyfriend Marriage, you’d think they’d require vastly different strategies for long-lasting happiness. Not so. Just don’t compare him to your best friend’s husband. Realise that a good marriage has intimacy and independence. It pays to cultivate a network of friendships and interests outside the marriage. In the Husband Marriage, you need to find something that stirs you and allow your enthusiasm to invigorate your marriage. In the Boyfriend Marriage, you need that independence to nourish your self-esteem and to see you through rocky times. Whichever kind of husband you married, if you want change, say the experts, take the initiative. Don’t wait for him to read your mind. If you want more time for yourself, say so. If you want a hotter sex life, make the first move. And… Stay away from temptation. Negative Calorie Foods are a Joke for Weight Loss! A Scam! A Lie!

By Craig Ballantyne There is no doubt diet is the key to weight loss. But there is no such thing as a negative calorie food. If you eat too many calories, you will gain fat. If you eat a healthy diet of fruits, vegetables, protein, nuts, and healthy fats, you will look great, lose weight, and have an abundance of energy. And let me say that again: There is no such thing as a negative calorie food. You might have heard of “so-called” negative calorie foods. Well, these foods don’t have magical properties. Foods contain calories. You don’t burn more calories by eating food. It just doesn’t happen that way. To achieve weight loss, you must eat fewer calories than you need. Add strength and interval training to your diet, and you’ll lose fat and sculpt your body. If you eat too many calories, from any food source, you won’t lose fat. This statement is false: “There are certain foods that show negative calorie effect because the body has to expand more energy to extract calories from these foods. The negative calorie foods need more calories to break down the foods and digest than the calories the foods actually contain.” Here’s a list of so-called negative calorie foods: Asparagus, broccoli, beets, cabbage, cauliflower, celery, cucumber, carrot, garlic, papaya, spinach, turnip, zucchini, apples, oranges, lettuce, grapefruit, pineapples, strawberries, and raspberries. All of these are great foods and should be included in your weight loss nutrition diet plan. However, they don’t burn more calories than they contain. If they did, how would we have 800-pound gorillas? They eat bananas and other vegetation, but still manage to grow from the calories in these foods. Do you see how ridiculous this “negative calorie” food claim is yet? Here’s another example. Let’s say you were stranded on a deserted island. And all you had to eat were apples. But since apples are a negative calorie food, you would actually waste away faster by eating apples, than if you didn’t eat anything at all! Now does that make any sense? Of course not. You can’t starve to death by eating apples. And nor can you burn fat by eating apples. There are no magical calorie-burning, fat burning foods. There is no such thing as a negative calorie food. The bottom line: Eat these foods because they provide you with nutrients, fiber, and an appetite suppressing effect. Don’t eat them because you think they are burning fat. And don’t start thinking that eating an apple will cancel out that piece of chocolate you just had. It doesn’t work that way.
